A reminder that 121.5 MHz distress beacons are no longer detected by satellite

The attached media release refers to an incident that involved a Darwin boatie who was lucky to be rescued after using an obsolete 121.5 MHz distress beacon, which are no longer detected by satellite.
This is a timely reminder that 121.5 MHz distress beacons are no longer licenced for use and therefore MUST be replaced with a 406 MHz distress beacon as soon as possible.
