Training area notes:
Our training area, with large areas of open farmland for safe training operations, extends 20 nm east of the airfield and 15 nm south to Esperance Bay, the Cape Le Grand Nationl Park and the Southern Ocean.

The closest controlled airspace is nearly 300 nm away. Esperance airport (a non-towered aerodrome) is 10 nm to the northwest of Myrup and has only 2 or 3 regular passenger transport flights per day so it is a good, quiet environment in which you can concentrate on learning to fly in a compulsory VHF radio zone without too much other traffic.

We also operate a satellite flight training facility on a regular basis (usually 2 days per fortnight) at Ravensthorpe airport, about 100 nm west of Myrup.

The CFI has over 2000 hours instructing experience — mainly in light general aviation aircraft — with extensive experience flying and training in tailwheel aircraft. We can also offer formation-flying endorsements as well as the usual TIFs, radio, passenger-carrying and cross-country endorsements.

Accommodation & social activities:
Esperance is, in part, a small tourist town (population about 14,000) with a wide range of accommodation from motels and B&Bs to caravan parks. Low cost accommodation for full-time student pilots can be arranged. There is a good range of hotels, cafes and restaurants.

The Esperance Aero Club holds a flying day on the first Sunday of each month plus a "Sundowner" on the third Friday of the month.

District attractions
Esperance claims to have some of the best beaches in Australia, good fishing, surfing and scuba diving. There is the usual range of sporting clubs such as bowls, football, tennis, and squash. MacKenzies Island Cruises operates half-day tours of Esperance Bay and Woodie Island. Safari tent accommodation is available on Woodie Island during the warmer months.
