TRAINING AREA NOTES:

Dalby airfield is situated on the Darling Downs. Open fields with no obstacles and unlimited landing options, the safest place possible to learn to fly. The climate is pleasant and the airfield adjoins the township. All conveniences are close at hand — low traffic flow.




ADDITIONAL NOTES SUPPLIED BY THE FTF:

The following notes are written by Avid Aviation and relate to advanced flight training and other services:

All aspects of flight training, including low-level endorsements, but not waterborne or floatplane.

Specialist tug-pilot training for hang-gliding (HGFA) and sailplanes (GFA).

Maintenance training for all ultralights and sailplanes.

Bob holds a current PPL with sailplane tow pilot endorsement, he is a qualified GFA level 2 gliding instructor, Also a sailplane maintenance inspector, having flown and maintained sailplanes since 1981. He also teaches advanced cross-country flying, competition racing techniques and aerobatics. Students can learn many advanced flying skills as well as gain the knowledge and maintenance endorsements required to service and properly maintain RA-Aus aircraft, systems and powerplants. Bob has been flying and maintaining ultralights for over 26 years and is the Regional Technical Officer for Airworthiness (RTOA) for south east Queensland.

DISTRICT ATTRACTIONS

. Local attractions include national park and wineries. Dalby population is 11,000, with all modern facilities. Gliding and hang gliding clubs operate on weekends.
