TRAINING NOTES:The school has no junior instructors and all training is conducted by Kevin Walters. His qualifications include full Commercial Pilot Licence, GA Instructor (lapsed due lack of activity in GA sector and too many hoops to jump through) Agricultural Pilot Instructor, Gliding Instructor (not current) , current Agricultural Pilot with own cropduster.Fully current to train ultralight pilots in the following new endorsements as per new RA-Aus Operations Manual. 1. Cross-country, Radio, Passenger, Instructor Rating 2. Tailwheel 3. Low Performance 4. High Performance 5. Low Level 6. Controlled Airspace (Tecnam and Sportstar Transponder equipped). Note: Kevin is now training potential GA pilots for their PPL and Commercial Pilots Licence as per the constraints of the CASA Day VFR Syllabus. This can halve the cost of the total training to the CPL Standard. Even though the training standard is very high Kevin manages to put the average student through to Pilot Certificate Standard in about 22 hours. Older students can expect to do more but the maximum hours so far have been 31 hours. Students who do not take training seriously are invited to go elsewhere .The school has been described as having an unusual approach to flying training with a lot of fun thrown in. Kevin’s motto is Firm, Far and Friendly. | |
ACCOMMODATION & SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:Learn to fly in the picturesque Lockyer Valley often described as the salad bowl of Queensland and only a short drive to the Gold Coast and northern beaches. Local country cuisine in many taverns and pubs and also accommodation at very reasonable prices. Or rough it out in our basic onsite Cabin. Night out every Friday night at the local Tavern with other pilots.During the course of training students can visit the numerous airfields that abound in the Brisbane and Lockyer Valley . Poke around the hangars and discover local V-8 Spitfires and Quicksilvers or Twin Pioneers parked amongst the gum trees. Drop in and have a look at the Focke-Wulf FW190 or the Mustang. |
